TO RECEIVE ALVIN B. CATES AWARD
Award presented by the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS® since 1937
ATLANTA, GA – Principals at T. Dallas Smith & Company (TDS&Co), the largest African American-owned pure tenant representation commercial real estate firm in the country became the first African American realtors to receive the Alvin B. Cates Award, one of the most prestigious annual awards offered by the Atlanta Commercial Board of REALTORS®. In the annual award’s history dating back to 1937, this is the first time brokers representing a Black firm have received it.
The Alvin B. Cates Award is presented annually to the broker who best fulfills the criteria to exemplify a commercial transaction considered to be extraordinary. TDS&Co principals T. Dallas Smith, Dexter Warrior, Leonte Benton, Corey Ferguson and Cedric Matheny were selected for bringing Microsoft to a full two-story building (523,000 sf) lease at Atlantic Yards. This accomplishment was the largest post-pandemic office deal in the United States for six months in 2020 and remains the second-largest office lease deal for the entire year.
